I figured since you offered me your advice I'll return the favour. the piece is genrally good and has a good close set of colours to keep things all together. using red/brown as a base colour seems to be good to make a scene seem more heated.
I feel that the main thing that sways me from the feel of the image is the lighting. It is plainly obvious which direction the light is coming from but the way in which the building are shaded seems somewhat mess and the buildings appear a little flat. when shading buildings, if the surface is flat then be sure the whole side is effected by light, also use the layers to use as much space as you need and delete/erase what you dont.
overall though your heading in the right direction to what you want to convay through the image
