wow your work is incredible, no other word for it. Could you do some sort of tutorial or give me a hint on how you do the sky and palette? I always end up with exessivly bright colours and I have no idea what do with the sky. It ends up looking cartoony and fake, so any help would really be appreciated! Thanks, and fantastic work well done
Hey thanks for the kind words. Very, very much appreciated. I am going to be doing a few process pieces soon, possibly even on this one. Here is a brief run down....I do about 70% of the painting totally in greyscale with a standard PS chalk brush. At that point, I start adding color with big soft round brushes, color balance adjustment layers and blending mode layers set to overlay. The overlay blending mode really helps pop the lighting out and push shapes forward. Also....remember to always keep checking your values as these adjustments can start to wash them out. There is a lot of over-painting with normal layers on top of the adjustment layers to hold your values in place. Hope that helps and gives you a little bit of insight on light and color. Thanks again and best of luck!!
DUSTY!!! Ok I could give you a 10 if you had LITTLE PEOPLE!!! I need them man, I miss my people... I picture lil survivors on the mountain, making their way to high ground to look for help/rescue/passing time.
That said...great work! I love the "oh no we are crashed" things you do. Exploring etc. The colors are great, I love how the land is so warm and dark at the same time but the sky is light and cool. Nice contrast. Planets are a nice touch. Really good job man! Nice to see something from you again.
